Mumbai: Abhisheik Joshi has stepped down as the Head of ShemarooMe, the digital streaming platform of Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd., according to media reports. His departure marks the end of a tenure that saw the platform expand its digital footprint in India’s highly competitive OTT market.
Joshi joined ShemarooMe in March 2023 and played a key role in strengthening the platform’s presence across both Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) and Advertising-based Video on Demand (AVoD) segments. Under his leadership, ShemarooMe diversified its content offerings, catering to a wider audience and enhancing its strategic positioning in the digital streaming landscape.
A seasoned professional in the media and entertainment sector, Joshi brought extensive experience to ShemarooMe. Prior to this role, he served as Senior Vice President and Business Head for SVoD and Business Partnerships at MX Player, where he was instrumental in launching and scaling MX Gold, the platform’s subscription model.
His career also includes significant leadership roles at Sony Pictures Networks India, where he spearheaded marketing, subscription, and content licensing for its digital division, and Zenga Media, where he led the company as CEO, driving mobile and digital video content distribution.
With an impressive track record across major media brands, industry insiders are keen to see what Joshi’s next move will be as he transitions from ShemarooMe. Meanwhile, Shemaroo Entertainment is yet to announce his successor.
