Mumbai: Music Broadcast Limited, the operator of Radio City, has named media veteran Abraham (Abe) Thomas as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025.
The announcement comes following the resignation of Ashit Kukian, who has chosen to pursue a new professional opportunity outside the company. Kukian, who had been serving as CEO since 2018, clarified in his resignation letter that there were no underlying concerns behind his exit. He will also step down from his role on the firm’s Risk Management Committee.
Thomas, who previously helmed both Radio City and BIG FM (Reliance Broadcast Network), returns to familiar ground with over 30 years of experience spanning broadcasting, print, and digital media across India, South Asia, and China. His career has included leadership positions at RED FM, MTV Asia, Sony Entertainment Television, and The Indian Express. He also co-founded One Network Entertainment, a digital video content venture.
In a twist of corporate continuity, Kukian had himself succeeded Thomas as Radio City’s CEO in 2018, after earlier serving as the company’s COO until 2015. Between his stints at Radio City, Kukian also worked with Times Network and ITV Network before returning as chief executive.
Alongside the leadership change at the top, the board has elevated Rajiv Shah as Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel, effective August 20, 2025. A Chartered Accountant by training, Shah joined Radio City in 2022, where he has been managing investor relations and corporate strategy.
The company further announced a reconstitution of its Risk Management Committee. The revamped panel will now be chaired by Shailesh Gupta, with Anita Nayyar and Divya Karani serving as members.
With this leadership reshuffle, Radio City is poised for its next chapter of growth under the stewardship of two seasoned professionals at the helm.
