Mumbai : Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) has served a notice to Star World over broadcasting a homosexual encounter in the widely popular American show Grey’s Anatomy in June, reports a leading English daily.
The complaint was filed over a scene in which one of the characters in the series asks her male colleague to teach her how to satisfy her partner sexually by demonstrating it. The complaint was filed because it was felt that the scene was “denigrating women”.
The notice follows complaints from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Chaired by Justice (retired) Mukul Mudgal, the BCCC arrived on the opinion that keeping Indian audiences in mind, the scenes of the episode were explicit and objectionable.
Grey’s Anatomy follows the lives of surgeons in a fictional setup and has been on air for over a decade. The popular show is reportedly edited to suit the Indian audiences. It is broadcast on Star World.
