Chennai : The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Groups television production arm in Chennai headed by B.R. Vijayalakshmi (aka) BRV is gearing up for the launch of “Chandralekha” in place of “Valli” which being aired from 2.00PM to 2:30PM during the weekdays (Monday – Saturday) from 6th October onwards on Sun TV.
Sun TV has a fiction line up starting from 11AM that goes up to 3PM and Sa Re Ga Ma was enjoying supremacy over the afternoon time band with its program “Atthipookal” topping the charts continuously for years together and even now “Valli” stands as the most watched fiction show in the non prime time.
“Valli” has completed around 465 episodes and during the week 36 it has clocked 10.5 TVR in Fe 15+ ABC followed by “Ilavarasi” and “Kalyanaparisu” edging with each other around 8.7 and 8.9 respectively. The Radaan’s show Ilavarasi at 1.30PM, is the longest running show in the current list of afternoon shows, which has crossed 1250 episodes.
It may be noted that the strengthen of the afternoon time band of Sun TV was greatly disturbed due to extreme power cut scenarios that were prevailing in Tamil Nadu until last May and after that the situation has improved a lot and the channel also managed to regain its strength. However, it has not regained its full strength where the afternoon shows use to give a tough fight to the prime time shows in the female TG ratings.
Sources confirm that the “Chandralekha” shoot is progressing in brisk phase and the on-air promos are expected to commence shortly.
