The social media platforms like Facebook and twitter are fast catching up with the growing e-commerce platform which is expected to boom big in the future. While Facebook is working on the Buy option, Twitter has begun a trial to allow users to be able to buy products directly through a tweet, with just over two dozen brands, charities and artists being chosen to test the ‘buy’ button.
It has been long suspected that Twitter was set to launch such a button, and the social media platform worked with social and e-commerce platforms Fancy, Gumroad, Musictoday and Stripe for this test.
Tarun Jain, group product manager at Twitter, has said: “In our test, an entire purchase can be completed in just a few taps.
“After tapping the “Buy” button, you will get additional product details and be prompted to enter your shipping and payment information. Once that’s entered and confirmed, your order information is sent to the merchant for delivery.”
Burberry, Demi Lovato, (RED), The Home Depot and Pharrell are among those chosen to help test the system.
