Facebook has appointed Ashwin Puri from ad tech firm Komli Media in a move that will see the social network giant’s video and mobile ad-serving company LiveRail establish its first Asian office in Singapore.
Facebook confirmed Puri’s appointment, but would not share details on his role.
LiveRail already has an office in Australia, but a Singapore presence would serve as a hub for the Asia Pacific region, according to sources.
The company stated that “Befitting the momentum behind our people-based marketing capabilities, we are delighted to have the very best talent in the industry joining the team in our offices all around the world.”
Ashwin Puri was VP of remarketing and mobile and part of the executive leadership team at Komli, where he has worked for almost three years, based in Singapore.
He has broad experience in the digital video advertising space having worked as global head of advertising and MD, Southeast Asia for Vuclip, a Silicon Valley-based mobile video startup with Singtel among its backers.
Facebook acquired LiveRail – which connects brands to web and mobile video audiences – just under a year ago in a deal reported to be worth between $400 million to $500 million.
In March, Facebook updated Liverail to include the use of Facebook user data – instead of cookies – to help advertisers target users outside of its network. The firm’s ad management capabilities now also include mobile display advertising.zzq
