Bangalore : Kannada GEC Suvarna is all set to launch its most popular nonfiction property Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda 2 on 13th July.
The Reality show Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda 2 is considered as the ultimate weapon of the channel Suvarna to regain its lost ground in highly competitive Kannada GEC Market.
It was during the first season of Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda, Suvarna has reached its peak of viewership and snatched the numero uno position from Udaya TV for the first time in the history of Kannada Television.
However, Suvarna failed to retain its leadership in the market due to constant decline in fiction viewership and lack proper replacement to the big ticket reality shows, which went off-air.
Presently, Suvarna is in the bottom of the GEC chart in Kannada market, while Colors Kannada and Zee Kannada are razing up with constant innovations in their offerings.
The concept of Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda 2 is a makeover format that involves the boys from Tribal Villages in interior Karnataka, who will be paired with a city girl to act as a mentor to change the tribal boys to fit in to the metro urban culture and meet various tasks to emerge victorious.
Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda 2 is schedule to be aired on every Monday to Friday at 7:30 PM, whereas the same was scheduled at 8PM during the first season.
The first season of Halli Hyda Pyateg Banda launched in 2010 has delivered good ratings for Suvarna despite huge controversies on the culture and behavior of participants of the reality show.
“Halli Hyda Pyatege Banda” means Village lads lands in the city…!, deals with eight rural boys comes to the city with eight city girls and gets trained by the girls and how they survive in the competitive city. The Channel has identified eight contestants from Tribal localities on interior Karnataka and eight girls from City backdrop to mentor those tribal lads, pair with them to win the reality show.
During the first season of the reality show, Rajesh hailing from Balle forest in H D Kote taluk emerged as winners and won the prize money of Rs 10 lakh.
Rajesh also landed the role of a hero in Kannada movie ‘Jungle Jackie’, in which he was paired opposite Aishwarya, who was his mentor in the reality show. He also acted in another movie titled ‘Love is Poison’
However, Halli Hyda Pyatege Banda winner Rajesh died in November 2013 amidst controversies. So the winner of Halli Hyda Pyatege Banda 2 is also likely to achieve similar acknowledgement, with huge public expectation.
It will be interesting to see whether Suvarna can recreate the magic of the first season in the second season of Halli Hyda Pyatege Banda.
