BARC Ratings of week 22 witnessed Colors minimising the distance with the market leader Star Plus as the latter lost viewership by 10 million. whereas channels like Colors, Life OK and SAB TV registered growth in ratings, while Zee TV’s viewership was stable compared with last week. However, there is no change in the position order of the top 5 Hindi GECs.
According BARC Ratings of week 22 for the period starting from 30th May to 5th June for Top 5 Hindi GECs, Star Plus retained the top slot followed by Colors at No. 2. Zee TV, Life OK and SAB TV were at No. 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
Star Plus lost 10 million TVTs in week 22 and recorded a gross viewership of 396 million against 406 million in week 21.
Colors registered growth in its viewership this week and moved closer to Star Plus. The channel recorded a gross rating of 368 million against last week’s 361 million. Zee TV stood unchanged at 233 million gross ratings in week 22 also.
Life OK added more eyeballs this week to reach to a gross rating of 230 million against 224 million in week 21.
SAB TV added 16 million to its gross ratings recorded a gross rating of 203 million against last week ratings of 187 million.
Top 10 Hindi Shows in BARC Ratings of week 22 :
Star Plus had four of its show in the top 10 shows with Saathiya Saath Nibhana bagging the top spot with 4.37 TVR followed by Ye Hai Mohabbatein with 4.06 TVR. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai occupied the fourth spot with 3.24 TVR, while on number 10 was Diya Aur Baati Hum with 2.59 TVR.
Moreover, Colors too got four of its shows being featured in the top 10 list. The channel’s reality show – India’s Got Talent stood at number six with 2.87 TVR followed by Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi with 2.7 TVR at number seven. Udaan occupied eighth spot with 2.62 TVR followed by Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat with 2.61 TVR at number nine.
while, Zee TV’s Kumkum Bhagya came third with 3.84 TVR. and SAB’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma garnered 3.07 TVR at number five.
Hindi & English News Channel positioning in BARC Ratings of week 22 :
Among English news channel in week 22 Times Now lost its leadership to India Today and was pushed back to the second slot with 264 TVTs. It seems the name change strategy has worked in favour of India Today (formerly Headlines Today) as the channel snatched the top spot with 354 TVTs and NDTV 24×7 at no. 3 scored 107 TVTs.
Among the Hindi news channels, Aaj Tak stood stubbornly in its numero uno position with 27795 (000’s sum) followed by ABP News with 27012 (000’s sum). India TV occupied the third slot with 23460 (000’s sum).
In English Business News space CNBC TV 18 was the topper with 158 (000s) followed by ET Now at no.2 with 133 (000s) while, Bloomberg scored 33 (000s).
