New Delhi : C Lalrosanga has been appointed as interim Director General of Doordarshan following the retirement of Vijayalakshmi Chhabra.
With a diverse experience in broadcasting, both in sound and visuals, he previously held the charge of Additional Director General of All India Radio.
“He has taken charge of the public broadcaster in challenging times, especially considering the proposed launch of the ‘Kisan Channel’ and four channels for North eastern region,” an official statement said today.
A senior official said Lalrosanga will hold charge till a permanent DG is chosen.
Prasar Bharati sources said that the process of appointing a permanent DG will be undertaken as soon as the four vacancies of part-time members of the Prasar Bharati Board are filled.
It was informed by DD sources that contenders for the post of DG include current interim All India Radio DG F Shehryaar, Aparna Vaish, Deepa Chandra, Dr Rajshekhar Vyas, Mukesh Sharma and Mahesh Joshi.
Lalrosanga joined northeastern service of All India Radio Shillong, as director after getting selected by UPSC in 1991. Before that he was as Assistant News Editor at AIR, Aizawl.
Lalrosanga likes poetry and music, especially devotional music and is a programmer of repute, the statement added.
