Chennai: The 61st Filmfare awards, south edition, will take place here on 12th July in the presence of luminary from Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam industries.
This year it seems the Star India’s regional channels Asianet (Malayalam), Suvarna (Kannada) and Star Vijay (Tamil) had acquire the telecast rights of this prestigious star studded event.
Maa TV had obtained the Telugu rights of the event as Star India doesn’t have a Telugu GEC in its bouquet as of now.
Generally the event will be covered with original format and inserted with the anchor talky portion to suit respective regional audience.
The Filmfare awards (South) will be conducted in Chennai and Hyderabad on rotation basis and this year it will be held in Chennai at the Nehru Indoor Stadium of the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, the event will celebrate and honour the best talent from all the four southern film industries.
Initially, only Tamil and Telugu films were considered for the awards, but Malayalam and Kannada films became part of the event in 1966 and 1969, respectively.
