Mumbai: News18 Lokmat has hosted a highly engaging Real Estate Conclave in Navi Mumbai, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to discuss the burgeoning opportunities and future of the real estate sector in the Navi Mumbai and Raigad regions. The event served as a pivotal platform for addressing the key factors driving growth, challenges, and policy advancements in the region.
The conclave was graced by Aseem Gupta, Principal Secretary of Urban Development, who delivered a keynote address on the government’s vision for urban growth and real estate development in the region. In his address, Shri Gupta emphasized the importance of collaboration between stakeholders to build a sustainable and dynamic urban landscape. “We must work together to unlock the vast potential of Navi Mumbai and Raigad to foster inclusive, sustainable urban development,” he stated.
The conclave featured three insightful panel discussions that delved into the factors shaping the real estate landscape in these regions.
The first panel, titled ‘3rd Mumbai – TPS/NAINA/MMRDA’, focused on the immense growth potential of Navi Mumbai and Raigad. Industry leaders such as Shri Vijay Singhal, MD of CIDCO; Shri Prakash Baviskar, CMD of Baviskar Group; and Shri Devang Trivedi, MD of Progressive Group, shared their perspectives on emerging developments, large-scale infrastructure projects, and investment opportunities positioning the region as a key real estate hub. The panel underscored how transformative projects like NAINA and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) are fueling the region’s growth.
The second panel, ‘Redevelopment and Self-Development of Old Societies’, explored the challenges and opportunities in redevelopment. Experts including Shri Somnath Kekan, Assistant Director, Town Planning, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation; Shri Rajiv Gurav, Director of Urban Analysis & Solutions Consultancy Services; and Architect Atul Mhatre, Director of Wise Reality, discussed self-redevelopment as a promising solution to empower residents with both financial autonomy and decision-making power. The panel highlighted the growing need for sustainable redevelopment practices that offer residents more control over their living environments.
The final panel, ‘Implementation of Government Policies’, addressed the critical issue of regulatory challenges and the implementation of policies that drive the real estate sector forward. Panelists Shri Jitendra Bopale, Director, Town Planning, MSRDC; Shri Shahjirao Anandrao Patil, Partner at S M Developers; and Shri Ateeque Khot, Director of Aashiyana Dream Homes Pvt. Ltd., shared insights on policy execution and discussed strategies to improve ease of doing business in the sector. They underscored the importance of creating a streamlined regulatory framework to support growth and attract investments.
