Mumbai: ShareChat, a homegrown social media platform, has announced the launch of its first Southeast Asia AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore. This initiative marks the company’s third global establishment outside India, following its presence in the US and UK. The centre aims to tap into Singapore’s robust AI ecosystem to develop innovative solutions and enhance user experiences on ShareChat and Moj.
ShareChat and Moj, which collectively boast over 325 million users across 15 Indian languages, rely heavily on AI-driven innovations for content discovery and recommendation. The new AI Centre of Excellence will play a pivotal role in strengthening AI models, creating machine learning frameworks for personalized content, and optimizing ad targeting while ensuring the integrity of user-generated content.
By leveraging Singapore’s rich AI talent pool and infrastructure, ShareChat plans to expand its team to over 30 members within three years. The new facility will enable the company to build state-of-the-art recommendation systems, ensuring that its vast ecosystem of daily content becomes more engaging, relevant, and impactful for users.
Ankush Sachdeva, CEO and Co-Founder of ShareChat and Moj, expressed his excitement about the initiative, “ShareChat and Moj are melting pots of creativity and innovation, offering a wide selection of user-generated content. With support from EDBI, the strategic investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board, we are extremely proud and excited to set up our new AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore to tap into the region’s deep pool of highly experienced AI and ML talent that will help accelerate the growth of India’s largest homegrown content and social media ecosystem.”
He further added, “We are looking forward to collaborating with related government agencies, institutes of higher learning in Singapore, and other corporations for knowledge-sharing and talent development programs. Singapore’s AI Centre of Excellence will facilitate knowledge exchange between our existing AI teams in India, the US, and the UK, who have extensive experience in this ever-evolving industry.”
Charmaine Kng, Partner at EDBI, echoed the enthusiasm, stating, “Aligned with the National AI Strategy, EDBI invests and partners with global innovative companies to establish their AI Centres of Excellence in Singapore, driving technological advancements and accelerating adoption in key sectors. Jain’s expertise in building high-impact tech teams across Southeast Asia is expected to be instrumental in the success of this new venture.
