GroupM, the WPP media network, has announced a significant restructuring of its global leadership team under the guidance of Global CEO Brian Lesser. This move aligns with Lesser’s vision to transform GroupM from a collection of companies into a more unified entity, emphasizing cohesion, operational efficiency, and global integration.
As part of this strategic overhaul, GroupM has introduced two pivotal roles: Global Chief Client Officer and Global Chief Business Officer. Adam Gerhart, transitioning from CEO of Mindshare, will now serve as Global Chief Client Officer, overseeing client relations across all GroupM agencies. Toby Jenner, formerly of Wavemaker, has been appointed Global Chief Business Officer, focusing on global development, growth, and collaboration with other WPP agencies.
Emily Del Greco will join as Global Chief Operating Officer (COO) next month. Previously a partner at McKinsey & Company, Del Greco brings extensive expertise in commerce media and advertising practices to her new role. Additionally, Mark Patterson, formerly GroupM’s COO, has been named Global President of Markets and Business Operations. Patterson will focus on driving growth in key regions such as APAC and LATAM, along with spearheading investments and sports-related initiatives.
The restructuring also includes the elimination of global CEO roles across major agencies like EssenceMediacom, Mindshare, and Wavemaker, further consolidating GroupM’s operations. These changes, effective immediately, reflect GroupM’s commitment to centralization and its ambition to adapt to the evolving media and advertising landscape.
