Mumbai: The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has officially opened for Awards submissions for its highly anticipated 72nd edition, set to take place in June 2025. Alongside this announcement, the festival has revealed the esteemed line-up of global experts selected to preside as Jury Presidents, ensuring the highest standards in creative and effective work evaluation.
This year marks a milestone for Cannes Lions, with Ali Ali, Co-Founder and Film Director at Good People Films, representing Egypt as the Film Craft Lions Jury President—a first for the country. Ali brings a wealth of experience in storytelling and cinematic excellence to this prestigious role.
Cannes Lions has also introduced significant updates for 2025, reflecting the evolving creative landscape:
- Social & Influencer Lions has been renamed to Social & Creator Lions to highlight the growing influence of creators in the marketing ecosystem. Beth Keamy, Chief Digital Officer at TBWA\Media Arts Lab, Global, will lead this category, applying her expertise in digital innovation to recognize groundbreaking work.
- In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Glass: The Lion for Change has expanded its scope to address a broader vision of social equity. The award will now honor creative excellence promoting equitable representation across various communities, including those defined by race, disability, sexuality, and social inequities. Entrants must specify the community their work represents, the problem it addresses, and the impact achieved. KR Liu, Global Head of Disability Innovation at Google, will preside over this category, bringing her advocacy and innovation expertise to champion transformative creativity.
Simon Cook, CEO of LIONS, remarked, “We are excited to welcome a diverse and forward-thinking group of leaders who understand the transformative power of creative excellence to drive business growth and impact. All experts in their field, their incredible talent, combined with the commitment and leadership they bring to their roles, ensures the highest levels of integrity and rigor in the judging process. We thank them for all that they will bring to the important task ahead of them in June.”
Cannes Lions 2025 is set to redefine global benchmarks in creativity and innovation, as it continues to inspire and celebrate excellence across the creative industries.
