MUMBAI: Multiplex operator PVR Inox has announced the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. Known as the ‘Greatest Showman of Indian Cinema’, Kapoor’s career is a cornerstone of Indian film heritage said PVR Inox. This festival commemorates 100 years since his birth, celebrating his contributions to Indian cinema. The initiative will cover 101 cinemas across 34 cities from 13-15 December, 2024.
As part of the centenary celebrations, audiences will have the unique opportunity to relive his movies on the big screen. His directorial debut was ‘Aag’ (1948). His other movies included ‘Bobby’ (1973) and ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ (1985). Kapoor’s films reflected societal transitions, romance, and universal human values added the multiplex operator.
The festival will feature a curated selection of his works, including Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), and more. Honoured with the Padma Bhushan and the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Kapoor’s remastered classics will be showcased on the big screen, offering both longtime fans and new audiences a chance to experience the grandeur of his visionary filmmaking.
