MUMBAI: India will host the 20th Asian Women’s Handball Championship for the first time, from 3-10 December, 2024, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Presented by the World Handball League (WHL) and organised by the Asian Handball Federation, this prestigious tournament will feature teams, including 16-time champion South Korea, Japan, China, and Kazakhstan, competing for qualification to the 2025 IHF World Women’s Handball Championship in Germany and the Netherlands.
The World Handball League (WHL) aims to establish handball as a mainstream sport in India through its partnership with Doordarshan. By broadcasting the championship on Doordarshan’s extensive network, WHL seeks to introduce the sport to millions of viewers across the country. This collaboration will aim to build a new community of handball enthusiasts in India. DD Broadcast will include highlights aired at prime time and live coverage on finals day. Additionally, the matches will be streamed live on SportCast India’s YouTube channel.

WHL, in collaboration with Doordarshan, aims set to create a legacy that extends beyond the tournament, laying the foundation for handball’s growth and popularity across the nation.
