New Delhi: ABP Network has appointed Sumanta Datta as its new Chief Executive Officer. Media reports confirmed his appointment, quoting an internal email to staff from ABP Director Dhruba Mukherjee, who had been serving as interim CEO since Pandey’s departure.
Datta brings with him over three decades of experience in leading major commercial operations, marketing, and distribution across industries such as consumer goods, durables, and education. He will report directly to Mukherjee in his new role.
Before joining ABP Network, Datta served as Managing Director of Oxford University Press, where he spearheaded its strategic growth. His previous roles include being Managing Director and Cluster Head at Logitech, overseeing operations in India, Indonesia, and South-West Asia. Datta also spent over 23 years with Coca-Cola, rising to the position of Vice President of Operations for India and South-West Asia markets.
Throughout his career, Datta has built a reputation for driving growth through innovation, strategic interventions, and partnerships across diverse markets such as India, China, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. His expertise spans leadership roles in multinational corporations and advisory positions with venture debt funds, data analytics, and food and beverage start-ups.
Datta holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University, the State University of New Jersey, USA. His appointment marks a significant leadership transition for ABP Network as it looks to strengthen its presence and drive growth in the competitive media landscape.
With his extensive experience and proven track record, Datta is expected to bring fresh perspectives to ABP Network and position it for continued success in the rapidly evolving media industry.
