Mumbai: In a bid to support underprivileged communities and address hunger, inDrive has launched its Meals on Wheels initiative in India. The company aims to donate approximately 15,000 food boxes to those in need, focusing on slums and low-income neighborhoods.
Through this campaign, inDrive is encouraging users to support the cause by simply booking rides via the inDrive app. For every second ride booked in select cities, one meal box will be donated to individuals in need. To facilitate this, inDrive will deploy 6 dedicated meal cabs to deliver food to communities across the region.
Avik Karmakar, Senior GTM Manager – South Asia at inDrive, commented, “Through the Meals on Wheels initiative, we aim to challenge injustice to underprivileged communities. Such initiatives underscore our commitment to building a just and equitable society and lending a helping hand to those in need. We believe that this initiative will inspire others to make a positive impact in the lives of underprivileged communities.”
The launch of Meals on Wheels comes at a critical time, as India ranks 105th out of 127 countries in the Global Hunger Index, with over 190 million people still going to bed hungry. With a population of 1.4 billion, addressing hunger remains a significant challenge.
