Mumbai: As the entertainment industry grows increasingly aware of its environmental impact, EndemolShine India, the production house behind the popular reality show Bigg Boss, has taken a major step towards sustainability. The company has replaced an estimated 7.5 lakh single-use plastic bottles with steel alternatives on the sets of the show, as part of a broader initiative to reduce its carbon footprint.
This eco-friendly move, which affects the 800 crew members on set, includes not only the provision of steel bottles but also the installation of water dispensers with biodegradable paper cups for both crew and guests. The shift aims to significantly reduce plastic waste, while setting a new benchmark for sustainability in the entertainment industry.
This initiative is part of EndemolShine India’s larger Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. While it adds to the production costs, the company is committed to making a meaningful contribution to reducing plastic waste and improving the overall sustainability of the entertainment sector.
By adopting such practices on Bigg Boss, EndemolShine India is not only leading by example but also paving the way for other production houses to prioritize eco-conscious practices in their operations.
