Edelman has appointed Rakesh Thukral as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Asia Pacific (APAC) operations, effective immediately. Thukral takes over the leadership role following the departure of Warren Fernandez, who is stepping down to pursue new opportunities. Fernandez will remain with the company through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
Thukral, a seasoned veteran at Edelman, currently holds the position of APAC Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of India. Over the years, he has been instrumental in driving growth within the firm, focusing on client satisfaction, talent development, and expanding Edelman’s range of services across the APAC region.
“We are excited to see Rakesh step into this critical leadership role,” said Ed Williams, Edelman’s President for International. “His deep experience in the region and his strategic vision for Edelman will continue to strengthen our offerings and help us deliver exceptional value to our clients.”
Warren Fernandez, who has served as Edelman’s APAC CEO for several years, was praised for his leadership and significant contributions to the firm’s regional success. “I am grateful for everything that Warren has done for the firm, and for his leadership both regionally and globally,” said Williams. “His expertise in the media sector has been invaluable to many of our clients, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Thukral expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, acknowledging the foundation laid by Fernandez and Ed Williams in making Edelman a leading communications firm in Asia. “Under Warren’s and Ed’s leadership, Edelman has become known for its integrated offering and innovative work across the region,” Thukral said. “I look forward to building on that legacy as we continue to drive growth and deepen our client relationships.”
