Mumbai: The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) has proudly announced its membership as a founding member of the newly launched Think Tank of The International Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAS). This initiative aims to enhance self-regulatory engagement, foster critical thinking, and support research to advance responsible advertising practices worldwide.
The launch event, held in New York, marked the inception of a collaborative platform designed to amplify the voices of various stakeholders, including advertising standards bodies, industry leaders, academic institutions, and other key players. The Global Think Tank will initially focus on pressing issues such as sustainability and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), with plans to tackle additional topics as it grows in capacity and influence.
As digital technologies, particularly AI, continue to transform the advertising landscape, the need for effective and responsible advertising practices has never been more critical. The Think Tank seeks to address environmental and societal challenges that increasingly shape media, marketing, and community dynamics. Its mission is to ensure that advertising benefits not only individuals but also the industry, communities, and society at large.
ICAS President, Guy Parker, stated: “We’re truly excited to launch the ICAS Global Think Tank. We’re confident it will provide the platform we need to address some of the most pressing issues facing the advertising sector today, generating insights that will help inform evidence-based policymaking, elevate ad standards and ultimately benefit people and communities worldwide. We are delighted that many associations and companies have already committed to supporting this initiative, and we look forward to welcoming even more members and stakeholders to the Think Tank in the months and years ahead.”
