New Delhi: Hyatt has announced that Sunjae Sharma, Managing Director for India and Southwest Asia, has been appointed Chairperson of the ASSOCHAM National Council on Travel & Tourism for 2024. In this prestigious position, Sharma will collaborate with ASSOCHAM to tackle industry challenges and promote growth, strengthening the travel and tourism sector.
With over 30 years of experience in hospitality, Sharma’s appointment is a significant milestone for ASSOCHAM as it aims to enhance India’s growth. He will be instrumental in advancing ASSOCHAM’s policy advocacy and bolstering its role as a key knowledge hub for tourism and hospitality.
A seasoned hotelier, Sunjae Sharma has been a vital part of Hyatt’s operations and growth strategy in India and Southwest Asia for over two decades. His leadership roles, including Vice President & Country Head for India, Area Vice President for South & West India, and General Manager of Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel & Residences, have been crucial in establishing the company’s success and setting a benchmark for luxury hospitality in India.

At ASSOCHAM, he will chair the National Council on Travel & Tourism until the conclusion of President Sanjay Nayar’s term, concentrating on promoting industry policies and developing innovative strategies to address the changing demands of the travel and tourism sector.
