Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has seen a significant financial boost from the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), reporting a surplus of Rs 5,120 crore. This represents a 116% increase compared to the Rs 2,367 crore surplus from the previous year. The BCCI’s annual report for 2022-23 highlights that IPL 2023 generated a total income of Rs 11,769 crore, reflecting a 78% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, the expenditure for the tournament also rose by 66%, amounting to Rs 6,648 crore.

Tata Sons secured the title rights for the IPL with a five-year deal valued at Rs 2,500 crore. Additionally, the BCCI generated Rs 1,485 crore from associate sponsorships with MyCircle11, RuPay, AngelOne, and Ceat. Revenue from media rights surged to Rs 8,744 crore, marking a 131% increase from Rs 3,789 crore in 2022. Earnings from franchise fees grew by 22% to Rs 2,117 crore, up from Rs 1,739 crore, while sponsorship revenue saw a 2% increase to Rs 847 crore.
