India: The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA), the governing body for the sport in the country, will be utilising Magnifi, an AI-powered highlight generation platform, for its cricket coverage.
As part of this engagement, the Malaysian Cricket Association will use Magnifi to capture cricket highlights. This process is done through the use of cricket-specific metatags, such as a Boundary, Six, Sweep or even a spin ball which can be refined through additional filters. For example, the MCA can generate clips of sweeps from a certain batsman or spins from only right-handed bowlers.
These clips can then be distributed to MCA’s social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn, complete with its iconic wickets-based logo and distinctive red, blue, white, and yellow visual identity. Because Malaysia has been traditionally dominated by other sports, such as badminton, sepak takraw, or even basketball, MCA’s use of Magnifi will grow cricket viewership in the country.
MCA notably leverages Magnifi for not only men’s cricket but also women’s cricket. Since MCA is a member of the Asian Cricket Council and an associate member of the International Cricket Council, it will also use Magnifi for coverage of its international matches.
Vinayak Shrivastava, the CEO of Magnifi, believes the engagement will advance the popularity of cricket among different demographics in Malaysia.
“MCA proves just how democratic and inclusive AI like Magnifi can be. With our solution, MCA will highlight women cricket players, who have traditionally been overlooked by mainstream coverage. They will also spotlight how Malaysian cricket teams can thrive on the world stage. These two factors bode well for the continued success of the sport in Malaysia,” said Shrivastava.
Magnifi is proud to contribute to the growth of cricket viewership in Malaysia, along with other markets in the world.
