Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has named Gaurav Banerjee, previously with Disney Star, as its new CEO, succeeding NP Singh. Singh, who has announced his exit from SPNI India recently.

NP Singh, who has been with Sony for 25 years, hinted on the succession hunt and the development is in sync with Singh’s announcement.
At Disney Star, Banerjee managed content for Hindi entertainment and Disney+ Hotstar. He also served as the business head for Star Bharat, overseeing Hindi and English movies, kids & infotainment, and regional channels in the eastern region.
According to Disney Star website, Gaurav played a pivotal role in shaping their diverse entertainment portfolio. His responsibilities spanned across all entertainment curation for Disney+ Hotstar, covering multiple languages and overseeing original series and films. Gaurav also ran all content for Hindi Entertainment TV, which included six of the top ten shows in the market on Star Plus. Additionally, he was responsible for iconic TV brands, including Star Gold, Star Jalsha, Star Bharat, and National Geographic Channel.
Gaurav served on the board of directors of the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Federation, the country’s media leaders’ industry forum, and on the core technical committee of BARC India, the body that measures television ratings in India.
