Mumbai: redBus, an online bus ticketing platform, has launched an ad campaign to promote online ticket booking on its platform. It has used humour to take a swipe at traditional ticket booking methods that are usually cumbersome and inconvenient. Titled as ‘Time Pass Skip Karo’, the ad campaign comprises a series of six independent 20-second reel-like, ‘slice of life’ instances associated with intercity bus travel that passengers can relate to the most.
The short ad films showcase the hassles associated with traditional, over the counter bus ticket booking, compared to on app booking. Each of the six ad films addresses a specific pain point associated with traditional ticket booking and highlights the solutions online booking through redBus has to offer. These include on-app features such as seat selection, discounts, route coverage, live bus tracking, free bus change, and selection of favourite bus operator.
The films look to blend humour with regional nuances. The films are available in three regional versions for MPCG, Delhi, and UP.
The ad films explore the convenience redBus offers within the chaos of an intercity bus station. The campaign’s creative approach focuses on humour, relatability, and regional authenticity to convey its message.
Each film the company explains looks to capture relatable scenarios, such as passengers hurrying to board buses or travellers bargaining with conductors, altercations over seat selections, to the frustration of not recalling previous travel experiences. The films thus use humour to emphasise the benefits of online booking. They also showcase the contrast between the uncertainties associated with traditional booking methods while comparing the convenience of booking online on redBus. The slogan in the ad-films, “Time Pass Skip Karo”, echoes the typical state of people stuck with traditional bus booking methods and looks to reinforce the message of embracing online booking.
