Digital News Publishers’ Association (DNPA) has appointed Mariam Mammen Mathew, CEO of Manorama Online, as its Chairperson, for two years, which will be effective from April 1st 2024. She will be replacing Tanmay Maheswari, MD, Amar Ujala.
Manorama Online is the digital version of Malayala Manorama, which is one of the largest and oldest media houses. It operates in the forms of print, television, radio, and digital properties.
Mariam Mathew has served as vice-chairperson while Maheshwari served as Chairperson at the association. In the recent annual meeting, it is learnt that Mathew has been elevated as Chairperson of DNPA.
Commenting on the elevation, Mariam Mathew said, “I am honoured to take on the role as country’s digital media landscape. My main goal will be to amplify the scale, influence, and durability of digital news media entities. An integral part of this vision is embracing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to augment our capabilities and drive transformative change. Additionally, I am committed to nurturing a culture of Diversity, which will play a pivotal role in reshaping the media landscape.”

DNPA acts as an umbrella organization for the digital wings of media businesses such as print and broadcasting. It does take every action to ensure equality for all news publishers. It also represents 18 media organizations including Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar, The Indian Express, Malayala Manorama, ETV, India Today Group, Times Group, Amar Ujala, Hindustan Times, Zee Media, ABP Network, Lokmat, NDTV, The New Indian Express, Mathrubhumi, The Hindu, Network18 and India TV.
