Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Former IAS Officer of UP Cadre, has been named as Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board. He will be serving in the position for the stint of three years or until he attains 70 years of age, as per the official order.
An order dated March 15, 2024, which was issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting read, “…the President, on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, is pleased to appoint Shri Navneet Kumar Sehgal, IAS (retd) as the Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board with effect from the date of his assuming charge of the post for a term of three years or until he attains the age of seventy years, whichever is earlier.”
Sehgal has played a pivotal role in the governments of Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav and Yogi Adityanath.
While serving under CM Yogi’s Government, Sehgal obtained the recognition of being the troubleshooter and confidante of the CM. Previous to his transfer to the sports department, he managed Information Department as Additional Chief Secretary.
