Leaders across disciplines and influential stakeholders joined hands at DH Bengaluru 2040 Summit on Saturday to inspire and ideate on a development blueprint that will prepare Bengaluru for its future.
The third edition of Deccan Herald’s annual summit, hosted at the ITC Gardenia, saw day-long discussions that outlined interventions to help Bengaluru shift to mission mode, as the city enters an exciting phase of global prospects and local challenges.
Welcoming the audience, Sitaraman Shankar, CEO, The Printers Mysore and Editor, Deccan Herald, traced the concept and objectives of the summit that make it an important annual fixture for the city. “The objective is to hear ideas from the best in the business on how to make the great even better, how to build a city that is super advanced, prosperous and glitzy — all without losing its innate decency and soul, and all in a sustainable manner.”
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in his inaugural address, underlined the opportunities and the city’s preparedness to leverage them. “Our vision is comprehensive and holistic, looking after the betterment of every citizen of the city. Development is not about the money we spent, it is about the conscience and collaborative efforts, innovative solutions that will help in the development of the city” said the Chief minister.
Dr Sudarshan Ballal, Chairman, Manipal Hospitals and Manipal Health Enterprises, delivered the keynote address at the event that had among the panelists, and the audience, a host of prominent Bengalureans including bureaucrats, corporate leaders, athletes, artists, and academics. “We envision that the future of healthcare will be very different from what we know now- brick and mortar hospitals will be replaced by technology. It will be an era of smart hospitalsand AI will play a major role in transforming healthcare,” said Dr. Ballal.
