Journalist Sachidananda Murthy, former Delhi Resident Editor of The Week from the Malayala Manorama Group, and Malayala Manorama daily, has passed away. He was 68 and recuperating post a lung transplant, reported The Week.
He joined The Week in 1982 when it was launched and retired while still with the Malayala Manorama group last year. He was an expert on international politics, national politics and governance.
Murthy, whose column was a standard fixture in The Week, was a former Secretary General of the Editors Guild of India and member of the Press Council of India and the Central Press Accreditation Committee. In 2009, he became chairman of the Lok Sabha Press Advisory Committee.
The veteran journalist was a recipient of several awards for his work.
