India had won the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy in 2011. It’s been 12 years to that, and Star Sports’ campaign is whipping up the excitement in the run up to the tourney.
A one-minute film features the ghosts of ardent cricket fans, awaiting salvation for they are convinced they will get it only once India wins the trophy. The campaign goes with the tagline #WorldCupKaBhootSawaar.
At the stroke of midnight, the ghost of a fan looks at the trophy, saying she has been waiting 12 years for India to bring it home and for her to attain salvation. A cynical peer says they might need to wait a lot longer, and an argument ensues. A third brokers peace. The film also features two of the men in blue – Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.
The campaign has been produced by Star Sports’ internal team and highlights the tournament will be telecast on the channel from October 5.
