Rakesh Sharma of Aaj Samaj has been elected as President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) for the year 2023-24. He succeeds KRP Reddy of the Sakshi Group.
Mathrubhumi Group’s MV Shreyams Kumar was elected Vice President, while Amar Ujala’s Tanmay Maheshwari will be Honorary Treasurer for the term.
Sharma is Director, ITV Network and Good Morning Media India. Good Morning India publishes newspapers like Aaj Samaj, The Daily Guardian, The Sunday Guardian, India News and Business Guardian.
On his election, Sharma said “The print industry is facing tumultuous times post pandemic and trying to revive back to normalcy. I’ve a vision of taking up print industry issues at higher echelons of Government to get respite from this struggling phase.”
The announcement was made post the 84th AGM of the apex body of publishers of newspapers, magazines and periodicals on September 30, 2023.
