Hindi news channel Aaj Tak has launched an AI avatar of its news presenter and Managing Editor Anjana Om Kashyap. Anjana 2.0 is billed as India’s first ever AI anchor modelled on a real anchor.
With general elections around the corner, Anjana and Anjana 2.0 will be seen in partnership on-ground and on-screen, informed a channel statement.
Anjana 2.0 was introduced on prime time on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She will be Aaj Tak’s second AI anchor featuring on prime-time programming, after ‘Sana’, who has been on air for almost six months.
Sana has to her credit an interaction with Prime Minister Modi, becoming the first AI anchor to interact with a head of state. She has also read a French bulletin, anchored a dedicated show on prime-time and interacted with global business leaders like Brad Smith of Microsoft, celebrities like Shahrukh Khan and TV personalities like Seema Taparia, the statement added.
