Kerala Tourism has launched a multi-film campaign for Onam, conceptualised by Stark Communications.
The campaign invites the world to see God’s Own Country at its best – during the Onam celebrations. It bills the state as the ‘Land of Harmony’, building on the prevalent belief that Onam marks the day when mythical King Mahabali – during whose reign everyone was treated equal – visits his kingdom and meets his people.
Onam Olympics
One of the films captures kids engaged in games played during the festival in the countryside. The celebrations stay true to the rural setting, from a tug of war in the farms to kids in face paint in the woods, and more.
Homestays
A foreign tourist with her infant are homestay guests during the festivities in another film, allowing for endearing visuals of the duo soaking in the lifestyle and festivities like the locals and with the locals. They become one with the family.
The Festive Feast (Aranmula Vallasadya)
One of the films celebrates the feted ‘Sadhya’ of the Onam festival. This one pictures a famous feast – Vallasadya at Aranmula Temple in Pathanamthitta. Pictures of boatmen heading to the temple make for a visual feast, leading up the real one.
Three films of the campaign have gone live with two more, including an anthem, to be released shortly.
