Disney+ Hotstar has launched its campaign ‘Bas Aao. #FreeMeinDekhteJao’ to drive home the message that the 2023 Men’s Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup tournaments will be available for viewing free on its app.
The platform has lifted its paywall for mobile and tablet-only viewers for both tournaments this year, it announced in a statement.
The campaign has been conceptualised by Tanmay Bhat, Deviah Bopanna and team Moonshot. The ad film has been directed by Kishore Iyer.
A film for the campaign themed ‘Bas Aao #FreeMeinDekhteJaao’ features a humorous exchange between two pilots and the air traffic control (ATC) room. When the pilot seeks permission to land, the ATC respondent discovers that he is a college mate and strikes up a conversation, unmindful of the plane’s position. Since he must be earning a lot as a pilot, he must have a Disney+ Hotstar connection, he guesses. He then asks the pilot to share the login details. An exasperated pilot whose plane is running low on fuel tells him that it’s free, driving home the brand’s message.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to start on August 30 with an India-Pakistan encounter on September 2 and the final slated for September 17. The matches will be live on Disney+ Hotstar and Star Sports Network.
