Four-year-old news site The Federal has gone through a revamp. It has adopted a new technology platform at the backend and an updated design – to expand coverage and include new categories accommodating increasing demands of visitors.
The revamp has taken a few months from planning to execution, informed an official statement.
“News has been logically sequenced, the various layers of a story given equal importance and videos prominently categorised – all of which together, the team hopes, will make The Federal the preferred news website,” the statement added.
S Srinivasan, Editor-in-Chief, The Federal, said, “While making all these changes care has been taken to ensure that the upgrades do not alter the fundamentals.”
The statement explained that the website’s focus will remain on ‘making sense’ of news, India’s federal issues and stories from the perspective of States. The site has underlined that it will retain its attention to individual stories, especially those that are technical and multi-layered. The ‘Explainer’ category will continue to deconstruct complex issues, the note said.
“The Federal’s interviews – both in the text and video formats – will expose the viewer to important actors in the public space. Panel discussions will continue to bring to the table the various elements of developing stories, the more controversial the better,” informed the statement.
The new look will kick in from August 11, 2023.
