Star Sports will air the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 matches live from the ‘Round of 16’ starting August 5. The broadcaster secured the rights from 1Stadia for the tournament and is currently showing highlights of the group stage matches.
The addition of FIFA Women’s World Cup to its portfolio is part of the network’s ongoing efforts to showcase marquee women’s sport to drive its dual agenda of growing sports fandom and participation amongst women, informed an official statement.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup will air primarily on Star Sports Select, alongside the Premier League which kicks off on August 13.
The broadcaster will add regional language commentary for the semi-finals and final.

The statement quoted a Star Sports spokesperson as saying that support for women’s sport not only reflects personal and societal attitudes towards gender equity but also inspires the next generation of athletes to ‘Believe’.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 registered a 3.7x increase in viewership from the 2018 edition on Star Sports, the broadcaster statement added.
