According to Ormax Media’s mid-year review on streaming originals in India, Farzi with Shahid Kapoor in the lead and Vijay Sethupathy in a key role was the most watched Hindi original show in the first half of 2023, with an estimated unduplicated audience of 37.1 mn.
It was followed by The Night Manager (28.6 mn), Taaza Khabar (23.5 mn), Asur S2 (19.3 mn) and Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo (16.2 mn).
Ormax estimates are based on primary weekly research on number of people in India who watched at least one full episode of a show, or at least 30 minutes of a film.
The mid-year report finds that Shahid Kapoor-starrer Bloody Daddy (16.6 mn) was the most watched direct-to-OTT Hindi film in H1 2023, followed by Gulmohar (16.3 mn), Gaslight (12.5 mn), Tiku Weds Sheru (11.1 mn) and Mission Majnu (10.8 mn).
Among international shows and films, Citadel that featured Priyanka Chopra Jonas was found to be the most viewed with an estimated audience of 17.5 mn, followed by The Mandalorian S3 (11.3 mn), Extraction 2 (9.6 mn), The Last Of Us (9.5 mn) and Jack Ryan S4 (8.6 mn).
Based on unaided recall, Farzi, Bloody Daddy and Citadel were also the ‘Most Buzzing’ in their respective categories, states the report.
