Zee Business alerted its viewers about the risks associated with dabba trading or bucket trading. Through a special episode on ‘Dabba Trading ka Mayajal,’ the channel issued a cautionary message to investors, urging them to remain vigilant against deceptive dabba trading brokers.
During the episode, the channel aimed to demystify the meaning of dabba trading and ensure that every investor comprehends why this type of trading is considered illegal. It explained that dabba trading involves unauthorised individuals conducting stock transactions outside the regulated stock exchange platform, typically through an app designed to entice investors with promises of fixed returns. However, in reality, it is nothing more than a fraudulent scheme, said the channel.
The channel further stated that Jatin Mehta, a businessman involved in dabba trading activities amassed a staggering business turnover of Rs.4,673 crore, resulting in a substantial loss of Rs.1.95 crore to the government.
According to the channel, the underlying motive for dabba trading brokers is to evade income tax, GST, and other market-related taxes. Fake brokers lure unsuspecting traders into their trap, assuring them of financial compensation in the event of losses. However, when traders make profits, these brokers fail to fulfill their obligations.
Anil Singhvi, the Managing Editor of Zee Business, took to Twitter alerting netizens and investors not to fall in the trap of quick returns at low cost.
Speaking on the campaign to protect investors, Singhvi said, “The trend of investing money in the stock markets significantly increased in the recent past. It is our responsibility to help investors understand the dangers of getting involved in illegal activities. Zee Business has been the most reliable news source for investors to understand what will assure investors maximise profit and wealth.”
Madhu Soman, Chief Business Officer, Zee Business, added, “Zee Business always strives to make citizens aware and avoid fraudulent practices that prevail in emerging markets. ‘Dabba Trading ka Mayajal’ is one of the many initiatives we’ve rolled out along with interesting news stories through an investigative lens.”
