Gaurav Laghate has been appointed as the Media and Marketing Editor (Head of the consumer vertical) at Mint. He takes over from Shuchi Bansal who has retired after a 13-year stint with the company.
Laghate has covered the media and entertainment industry for 14 years, tracking its evolution at publications such as Business Standard, Television Post, Indian Television and The Economic Times. He will be based in Mumbai and report to Satish John, Managing Editor, LiveMint.
Nikhil Kanekal has joined Mint as Head of subscriber experience.
Kanekal began his career as a staff writer with Mint (2010-2012), reporting on corporate disputes, law and the judiciary. He has been a copy editor and digital publisher at Deccan Herald, and the head of strategy for The Printers Mysore. He formed part of the founding team at Paper.vc and in his last full-time role was the head of marketing at Crediwatch, a fintech startup. He is a visiting faculty member at the Asian College of Journalism and the convenor of the ACJ Awards for Journalism. Nikhil graduated as a Toni Stabile fellow with a masters in investigative journalism from Columbia University and holds a bachelor’s degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune.
Nikhil will be based in Bangalore and will report to Sruthijith.KK, Editor-in-Chief, Mint.
