#IranProtests2022
Disturbing would be an understatement to describe the death of 22-year old Mahsa Amini in Iran. She was in custody thanks to the watchful eyes of the moral police, who noticed that her headscarf was not aligned with the rules. The public is disturbed enough to hit the streets in protest. Headscarves are being burnt. Women are cutting off their hair on camera. Many have died in the state clampdown on protesters. #IranProtests2022 is trending.

#DividedByOpinion
Opinion is divided more than ever before, even if it is on opinion pieces published in newspapers. This comment from a balanced veteran marketer is worth pondering over. He wonders why a senior journalist has issues with an op-ed not aligned with her thinking. A lot of journalists and indeed media houses have been pushed to the other side because the establishment forced them to be ‘for’ or ‘against’ issues and eventually the establishment itself. Kudos to media houses that ensure space for opinions both ‘for’ and ‘against’. Both will get their share of brickbats, but that’s par for the discourse.

#IndVsAus
The #IndVsAus series is tantalisingly poised at 1-1 with the Hyderabad encounter to be played. The truncated second match saw Dinesh Karthik smashing a six and a four in the last over with India needing nine runs to win. The flourish in the finish also saw Karthik steal Rohit Sharma thunder – as some pointed out.

#HyderabadTickets
In the meantime, tickets for the Hyderabad match were sold out in record time. A stampede when counters opened was reported by the Deccan Chronicle in some detail, alongside allegations that former cricketer and head of the Hyderabad Cricket Association Mohamed Azharuddin has hence denied.
The #HyderabadCricketAssociation @hycricket_HCA chief did not give any account of the tickets being sold, or respond to the allegations on social media of largescale black marketing of tickets. #IndiavsAustralia #hyderabadtickets #Hyderabadstampedehttps://t.co/dogdo3Ozaa

#CheetahsAreBack
Harmless humour is rare these days. It’s incredibly easy to offend someone and easier still to vehemently take offence. So when we come across such gems, we must be grateful.

#AmendPCA #StopAnimalCruelty
Staying with animals, a campaign has been launched to urge the government to adopt amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. While there must arguably be more pressing issues before the government, this campaign speaks for our fellow inhabitants of the planet who cannot speak for themselves. The number of crimes against animals suggests in ample measure that stronger deterrents are necessary. More power to these activists for reminding the powers that be, that while we try and reinstate extinct species, we need to ensure kindness towards – or at least lack of cruelty against – the ones that do exist in our midst.
Let's speak up for those who can't speak for themselves.Request government to adopt long-pending amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.Need to make punishments harsher to deter cruelty to animals. #AllLivesMatter @DeeSpeak @Aliaa08 @TheJohnAbraham @ActorMadhavan pic.twitter.com/T6m7asDDeJ
