Times Network News Channels unveil special programming line-up for 75th Independence Day

Times Network news channels, TIMES NOW, Times Now Navbharat, ET NOW and ET NOW Swadesh have curated a special programming line-up to commemorate the spirit of freedom this Independence Day. 

Commencing with the PM’s address at the historic Red Fort on August 15, India’s leading English News channel, TIMES NOW brings a line-up of shows that salutes the indomitable spirit of every Indian, who shines through with talent, grit and passion. Tracing the journey of India’s sports heroes who made the nation proud at the Commonwealth Games, Gold & Gantantra airing at 1:20 pm, will narrate untold tales of the hard work and resilience of the athletes, who brought gold and glory to the nation. Desh Ke Rakhwale, a special show that will air at 2:30 pm brings it to viewers never seen before preparations of the Indian Armed Forces at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner. Celebrating the valour, strength and determination of the Indian Armed Forces, the show will capture intensive training including Special Heliborne Operations, Room Intervention drills in Counter Terrorist Operations. The channel will also air an exclusive interview at 3:30 pm, ‘Celebrating the Tiranga’ with Naveen Jindal, Industrialist and President of the Flag Foundation of India, who won a landmark ruling in the Supreme Court in 2004, which enabled every Indian citizen to hoist or display the tricolor every day of the year. The interview will highlight Jindal’s views on the amendments brought to India’s Flag Code and the significance & meaning of Tiranga for the people.

Times Now Navbharat presents a series of special shows through ‘Azadi Ke 75 Saal: Garv Ka Mahaparv’ to mark the occasion. Enlightening the viewers with the history, evolution and significance of the Indian Tricolour, the channel will air, Tiranga – Hamara Jhanda, a 42 mins long documentary on August 12 at 10 pm and repeat telecast on August 13 at 10 am. This documentary will feature eminent voices including Irfan Habib, Historian, Naveen Jindal, Founder of Flag Foundation of India, Prof Shalini Choudhary, Historian, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Former Indian Olympian, Lt Gen (Retd.) Satish Dua, Former Chief of Integrated Defence Staff and voices of ordinary Indians as well. Beginning Independence Day with PM’s speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the channel brings a day-long coverage that will capture the LIVE events and celebrations across the country. Over the day, Navbharat Ka Tiranga, a special bulletin will showcase visuals of the Tiranga from various corners of the country. 

Celebrating India’s economic and social evolution through the past 75 years, ET NOW and ET NOW Swadesh celebrate this important milestone through special programming under ‘India @ 75’ and ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ respectively, capturing India’s journey and economic events that decided the fate of India. The channels will air a series of special interviews throughout the day with India’s top CEOs, Market Gurus and policymakers including Dinesh Kumar Khara, Chairman, State Bank of India, Ajay Piramal, Chairman, Piramal Group, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director – Maruti Suzuki, Puneet Chhatwal, MD & CEO, Indian Hotels and Vallabh Bhanshali, Market veteran. Charting the roadmap for India’s $5 trillion economy and beyond, the channels will also air an all-star CII panel featuring Sanjiv Bajaj, Sanjiv Puri, R Dinesh, Chandrajit Banerjee. With a special feature, ‘How to live a 100 years’, ET NOW and ET NOW Swadesh will showcase a list of timeless Indian corporate houses established during pre-independence, that continue to survive and thrive. Celebrating the vibrant & diverse legacy of India, ET NOW has also planned a series of explainers about topics ranging from the development of the Indian mutual fund industry to the history of India’s struggle for economic freedom. The channels will also take viewers a trip down memory lane by exploring India’s historic monuments and iconic restaurants. 

Adding to the celebrations and eternalizing the spirit of 75 years of Independence, Times Network will bring to its viewers a special rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’, titled ‘Three Generations – One Nation’ performed by Sarod Gharana of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Amaan Ali Bangash, Ayaan Ali Bangash. For the first time ever, they are joined by the 8th generation of musicians of their family, 10-year-old twins, Zohaan Ali Bangash and Abeer Ali Bangash. The track that recreates the magic of India’s most patriotic song will play across Network’s news and entertainment channels – Times Now, Times Now Navbharat, Times Now World ET Now, ET Now Swadesh, Mirror Now and Zoom on August 15.
