R Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ hit the theatres on 1st July. The movie, which is Madhavan’s production venture too, is a biographical drama based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a celebrated scientist. The aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was accused of espionage at the peak of his career and exonerated much later, which forms the core plot.
The story spans across Narayanan’s days as a graduate student at Princeton University, before exploring his work as a scientist and the false charges hoisted on him.
Rocketry was filmed simultaneously in English, Hindi and Tamil and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 19 May 2022. Madhavan himself portrays the lead role of Narayanan, while Simran, Rajit Kapur, Ravi Raghavendra are part of the cast.
Shah Rukh Khan makes a cameo as himself in the Hindi and English versions of the movie. Suriya makes a guest appearance as himself in the Tamil version.
The film is receiving mixed reviews from the audience. But it promises to be different, thanks to the true story it is based on.
