International: The One Club for Creativity has combined two of its popular professional development offerings as Creative Leaders Retreat + WITHIN: The Path Forward, a new synergistic virtual conference on March 22-24, 2022 for both agency and brand-side creatives.
Now in its ninth year and running the first two days of the conference, Creative Leaders Retreat (CLR) was developed by the club to fill a gap in the industry for a formal training process for mid-to-senior level creatives stepping into leadership roles, as they transition from doing creative work to managing teams, interacting with clients, and dealing with management issues such as staffing and profitability.
WITHIN, happening on the second and third days continues its unique focus on the inner dynamics of the industry’s leading brand-side creative departments and examines the cultures behind the teams who build, maintain, and grow a brand’s presence in the market.
Top industry creative leaders confirmed as speakers, with more to be announced shortly, include:
- Clarence Bradley, CCO, North America, Campbell Ewald Los Angeles
- Glenn Cole, cofounder, creative chairman, 72andSunny Los Angeles, The One Club Board chair
- Nicklaus Deyring, executive design director, HS Ad North America, LG Electronics, Englewood Cliffs
- Pete Johnson, head of creation, The LEGO Group, Herning, Denmark
- David Lee, CCO, Squarespace Los Angeles
- John Long, ECD, HS Ad North America, LG Electronics, Englewood Cliffs

- Nick Pringle, SVP, ECD, R/GA London
- Jamie Robinson, cofounder, CCO, JOAN Creative New York

CLR+W will provide tangible, actionable advice that attendees can take back to their job and implement. Sessions are discussion-based, with programming divided evenly between presentation and dialogue, and time built into the schedule for group breakout rooms to foster further conversation, exchange of ideas, and networking.
The conference happens behind closed doors, providing a relaxed, non-competitive environment for open and honest dialogue. Tweeting about presentations and discussions is not allowed, and recordings of sessions are available to attendees only.
“The speed of industry change accelerated tremendously during the pandemic, making it critical to address the path forward,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO, The One Club. “This period of creative transformation also presents an ideal opportunity to bring these two creative constituencies together in one conference that examines the issues and challenges for both agency and brand-side teams.”
Tickets are $299, with group pricing of five passes for $239 each. Registrants can attend any session and learn about the issues facing both agency and brand creative teams. Registrants can also connect with each other in small groups and one-on-one conversations through the CLR+W attendee directory and breakout rooms.
