This Television Day, on 21st November, &flix brings to its viewers a special line of some very interesting and entertaining films.
The lineup includes titles spanning across genres and themes including the comedy-drama ‘The Farewell’, action and crime drama filled with comical punches ‘Taxi 5’, crime thriller film ‘Gyul-baek’ and a biographic musical drama ‘Arab Idol’. The Farewell is a heartfelt comedy-drama and narrates the story of a Chinese family that discovers that their grandmother has only a short while left to live and decides to keep the fact hidden from her. They schedule a wedding to gather before she dies. The film adroitly captures complicated family dynamics with a poignant, well-acted drama that marries cultural specificity with universally relatable themes. Taxi 5 starring Franck Gastambide and Malik Bentalha covers the journey of a police officer who is transferred to Marseilles and gets assigned to take down a group of Italian robbers who drive the powerful Ferraris. Gyul-baek showcases the mother-daughter bond as a daughter while defending her estranged mother in a murder trial that uncovers the secrets of an estranged village. The South Korean film stars Hye-Sun Shin and Chong-ok Bae in key roles. And what happens when an aspiring musician living in Gaza, sets a seemingly impossible goal: to compete in ‘Arab Idol’.
