Dinsey and Star India is all set to rejig its list of channels on air with addition, omission and rebranding of its channels in line with its new strategy, coinciding with the NTO 2.0, the tentative dates for the new channel launch, rebranding of its existing channels and pulling down some of its existing channel.
According to market sources close to Medianews4u and the world of distribution, it is understood that Star India has notified them of its plans to launch new channels while shutting and rebranding some of its existing channels.
Star Gold Romance, Star Gold Thrills, Jalsha Josh, Pravah Pictures, Star Movies Select, Star Hungama, Star Gold 2 HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil HD, Star Sports Telugu HD, Disney Channel HD, Hungama HD would tentatively be launched on December 1st 2021. Regional channels namely Vijay Super HD and Asianet Movies HD would be launched on December 25, 2021.
Star India will be entering the Odia GEC space with the launch of Star Kirano on January 24, 2022.
Few of the channels will get rebranding while a few of them will be shut down from December 1, 2021.
Channels namely Star World, Star World HD, Star World Premiere HD, Baby TV, Bindass will go off air from December 1, 2021. Bindass is a youth entertainment channel. UTV Action and UTV Movies were launched by Ronnie Screwvala’s UTV Software Communications Ltd, which was acquired by Disney India in 2012.
In addition to the above changes, Marvel HQ would be rebranded as Super Hungama, UTV movies as SG Romance, UTV Action as SG Thrills. Star Sports 1 Marathi would be rebranded as Marathi Movie Channel, and Star Sports Bangla as Jalsha Josh.
