Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairperson M Venkaiah Naidu, and Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla launched ‘Sansad TV’ on Wednesday.
The decision to merge Channels Rajya Sabha TV and Lok Sabha TV into Sansad TV was taken in March 2021, and Ravi Capoor IAS was elected as the CEO.
“Parliamentary system has got a new communication medium,” said PM Modi during the channel launch. “Sansad TV has many programs under the theme ‘Amrit Mahotsav. Content is Connect,” Modi added.
Sansad TV will feature shows on the functioning of Parliament. The Sansad TV programming will mainly focus on four categories – functioning of Parliament and democratic institutions, governance and implementation of schemes/policies, history and culture of India, and issues/interests/concerns of contemporary nature.
As per media reports, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant, veteran Congress leader Karan Singh, advocate Hemant Batra, economist Bibek Debroy will host different shows on Sansad TV.
