Yoga has several disciplines within the practice and is practised around the globe in various forms. Considering the growing popularity and universal appeal, the United Nations, in 2014, declared 21 June as the International Yoga Day.
‘Yoga for well-being’ is the theme for International Yoga Day 2021. This theme has been conceived to emphasise the importance of the role played by yoga in the care and treatment given to Covid-19 patients during the quarantine period.

Colors Tamil:
Colors Tamil hosted the virtual yoga session in partnership with the Rotary Club of Madras Central, for the second consecutive year, bringing in renowned health experts, sports therapy consultants, reputed yoga instructors, fitness experts and physiotherapists from across the country. Focusing on the importance of healthy lungs, the program witnessed yoga sessions on Pranayama and Suryanamaskar, along with basic yoga that anybody could include in their daily life.
Cult.fit:
On the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June, cult.fit is hosting a series of exciting activities to celebrate Yoga across its online platforms.
This year, cult.fit’s Yoga Day theme is – ‘Yoga is for Everyone’ stressing on the versatility of Yoga as a practice for people across ages and fitness levels. Through a host of informational sessions by popular influencers and fun collaborations, cult.fit aims to take this conversation ahead.

MX TakaTak
To celebrate International Yoga Day, MX TakaTak is promoting physical and mental well-being, especially at a time when the world is mired in a public health crisis. MX TakaTak’s #YogaSeTakaTak campaign would see extended participation from the community through multiple challenges for viewers. Honouring the age-old practice of yoga that originated in the country, fitness influencers like Gokul Ram, Urmi Pandya and Vipin Yadav join this initiative to share yoga postures for people to perform while sitting at home/working/etc.
Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has kick-started the #YogaSeTakaTak campaign, and as a part of the engaging hashtag trend, the platform has also hosted LIVE yoga sessions as demonstrated by Yoga Guru Dheeraj from 8:30-9 A.M every day, that addressed various lifestyle troubles we battle daily like obesity, lack of flexibility etc. Additionally, the #YogaKarkeDikha challenge introduced various stickers featuring five yoga asanas for users to use on their posts, in line with keeping up with the challenge.

Fever Network is initiating the biggest virtual boot camp with Yoga Gurus, Health and nutrition experts and celebs. This is going to be an immersive mind, body and soul experience for two days 20th and 21st June, spearheaded by Fever RJs. The YOGA BOOTCAMP will ensure a holistic view of health and wellness of oneself by touching the mind, body and soul through curated sessions. While on one hand there would be different forms of yoga sessions from Ashtanga to Hatha to Iyengar to facial to power yoga, on the other hand there would be conversations around benefits of deep breathing, post COVID restorative yoga & nutrition.

Celebrating International Yoga Day, Times Hollywood Network, Movies NOW, MNX, Romedy NOW and MN+ has announced FIT UP, a special initiative that will motivate viewers to stay fit & active while watching their favorite Hollywood movies. The Network has roped in Bollywood Actor and yoga expert, Sarah Jane Dias who will help viewers kickstart their fitness journey with fun, effective and easy to do yoga asanas presented through series of curated short videos which will play during the ad breaks between the 7 am to 7 pm movies across the channels.
