Amidst the pandemic, the 93rd Academy Awards were held uniquely across two venues, namely the Dolby Theatre and Union Station.
Nomadland won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Chloe Zhao, who made “Nomadland,” was awarded the best director, becoming the second woman to ever win the Academy Award for best director.
Anthony Hopkins won the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Father. Frances McDormand won her third Best Actress Academy Award for her work in Nomadland. Yuh-Jung Youn zo’n Best Supporting Actress for Minari.
The 93rd Academy awards took time to honour the many talents lost during last year. The memoriam gallery featured tributes to industry legends through their movies, personal stories, and their fans. Bhanu Athaiya and Irrfan Khan were featured in Memoriam gallery. Soumitra Chatterjee, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor, Shashikala were honoured on the official ‘In Memoriam’ page.
