Avon India partners with the Indian Cancer Society to create awareness around breast cancer in women around the world. Being a leader in supporting the cause of breast cancer for over two decades now, Avon has been enabling breakthrough research, equipment, and educational materials to fight against breast cancer, globally.
In an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer, Avon along with the Indian Cancer Society is reaching out to individuals and communities through multiple mediums including social media interventions such as organizing webinars, talk shows, etc. These efforts intend to spread the message of survival and hope to those who are fighting breast cancer and recognize the importance of early detection, regular screening to detect breast cancer early. This also includes education through training, as well as offering high-quality low-cost cancer screening facilities to women.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women around the globe. This year, the entire world is facing challenges as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, especially, the breast cancer community who is now the most vulnerable and at a greater risk. It has been observed that worldwide, approximately two million women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
“This year has truly been the most difficult, challenging year and we at Avon, understand how critical it is to stand for each other, especially with breast cancer survivors, vulnerable groups who may face inequality to be able to access quality healthcare services and front line workers. Working together with the Indian Cancer Society (ICS), we hope to encourage millions of women around the world to take necessary precautions and undertake self-check-up tests to help to prevent the late diagnosis of breast cancer”, said Snigdha Suman, Marketing Director at Avon India.
“We believe, early diagnosis and detection of breast cancer are of utmost importance. The more information available on Breast Cancer, and the earlier women recognize its early signs, the less the trauma, physical, emotional or financial distress. However, even after treatment, women need help as they work their way back to health. Our collaboration with Avon is a testament to our commitment to the cause of breast cancer. We understand the importance of how critical it is for a woman to look good and feel confident again in the entire journey of fighting breast cancer. And with Avon, we are committed to working together to ensure a healthy lifestyle for all the women”, said Jyotsna Govil, Chairperson, Indian Cancer Society Delhi.
Over the last three decades, with the Avon Foundation for Women, we have donated more than US$939 million to breast cancer causes; educating 180 million people about the disease, and funding breast health screening for over 20 million women. This has only been possible with the support of our community.
